I get the same results as when I have the 1920x1080 monitor attached. I know HiDPI mode is enabled, because on my OTHER monitor, which is not even a 4K monitor, I get choices like this:Īnd yes, I have tried everything with just the 4K monitor attached, it doesn't matter. What I would LIKE to get, using any cable that will do the trick, is a HiDPI 1920x1080 mode that looks good.

This is really a mystery to me because using the same cable on the VX3276-FHD (non-4K) monitor, I can get 1080p 60 Hz and it looks good. Monitor 1: driven by Mac mini HDMI port (HDMI-to-HDMI cable) Monitor 2: driven by Mac Mini thunderbolt port (I used this thunderbolt-to-DVI cable) Monitor 3: driven via USB 3.0 adapter (I used this one from CableMatters and have had zero issues with. Despite Apple's lack of official notes saying so I would expect that 4K at 30Hz would be possible via the Displayport interface and a Mini Displayport. Right now, the best resolution that I can get, which I can actually read on the monitor with my crappy eyes, is 1920x1080 30 hz. Late 2014 Mac Mini with 8GB RAM (purchased Oct 2015) 3 monitors, each with 1920x1200 resolution. The Displayport interface on the Mac mini does not support MST (Multi Stream Transport) which is required to do 4K at 60Hz.

I am at a loss for how to get a 4k signal and a usable HiDPI option and I am looking for some help with that. Is it possible to use a Mac Mini with a LG 34UC97 with a resolution 3.440 x 1.440 60Hz with thunderbolt. My question is, what is the max resolution what you can use with one Display. Using the "hold down option when clicking on scaled" technique, I do get a wide range of resolutions from which to choose, including some HiDPI options, but only REALLY low resolution ones that look like crap.
